It’s rare that I find a recipe that my kids will ASK ME TO MAKE, this is the best chili recipe for cool, fall nights!

I know that everyone has their own special version of homemade chili- It’s the perfect dish for all kinds of occasions, and there are as many versions as there are cooks!

I have tried out MANY chili recipes over the years to try to satisfy mine and my kiddos taste buds- trust me when I say that I am finished hunting down ‘THE ONE” recipe we can agree on!

I finally found it!

So Let’s Dive In-


  • 1 Lb Ground Beef
  • 23 oz Tomato Juice
  • 1 (15oz) can Tomato Sauce1 (15.5oz) Can of Beans-(you can use kidney, red, garbanzo, or black beans)
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Celery
  • 3/4 Cup Chopped Onion
  • 2 Tbsp Chopped Green Bell Pepper
  • 2 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 3/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Dried Oregano
  • Salt and Pepper to taste


In a large skillet, brown beef and drain WELL, breaking up larger chunks as you cook.

In a small bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Pour over hot beef and toss to coat.

Rinse your Canned Beans in a small strainer.

Leaving your stove top burner on medium heat, replace your skillet with a dutch oven, or a large stock pot.

Add to your pot: Seasoned Beef, Tomato Juice, Tomato Sauce, Beans and Vegetables. Stir to combine.

Cook on Medium-Low for 40-50 minutes, stirring occasionally, uncovered.

Serve with Saltine Crackers, Sour Cream, Shredded Cheddar or Pepper Jack Cheese, Jalapeno Slices or Cornbread!

Make a double batch and freeze half, warming in a crock pot on a busy day for a quick, filling meal!
