I just love the warm colors and nature- inspired fragrances of FALL! In this article, I want to show you how I bring the outside indoors for the season, without spending a fortune!
My friends and family all know I have a passion for decorating my home, and I have expensive taste with a very small budget! But that doesn’t mean my home decor needs to suffer-
This girl is a HUGE fan of seasonal shopping- which means I usually do my fall decor shopping POST Thanksgiving to get up to 80% off floral stems, signage, tableware and scented candles!
Let me teach you how to MAKE things YOURSELF to save money, even if your time is limited– Check out these 5 EASY DIY’s that made my home cozy and warm this season!

A Single Stem
Floral
Okay everyone, we all know Hobby Lobby does 50% off everything bi-weekly. Including floral stems! Do you feel a little overwhelmed when you enter their floral department like I do?
Having not studied floral design, I simply go with what I like, and I’m very creative on my good days- but Hobby Lobby and Michael’s have SO MANY OPTIONS! My eyes are sore when I wander outa there hours later, with just a few stems that don’t have a plan!
I found a way around this, and I’m only sharing because I think if I feel this way, YOU might too!
BEFORE YOU GO TO THE CRAFT STORE:
#1 Write down the colors you need to stay with. This will keep you from bringing home a bunch of stems that won’t work together! It’s helpful to try and go with colors that match your EXISTING decorations, in case those need to be “fluffed up” a bit!
#2 Find blank spots in your house where you can add outdoor elements. When I write down specific corners or walls that need some love, it’s easier for me to visualize the floral that could go there!
#3 Tall, Medium, Short. “Nature-scaping” in the house always looks more natural when you have staggered heights of stems!
#4 Mixing Cheap Looking Stems with More Expensive Stems tends to make the entire arrangement look higher-end!
#5 Use floral stems that are double-duty. Consider getting colors and floral picks that can go from your fall arrangements and WREATHS straight to the Christmas tree for filler. This way, you’re getting more BANG for your buck, and transitioning to seasons is WAY EASIER! Think pine cone floral picks as a good dual purpose Fall to Winter object. Also, hues of RED like berries and buds can be transitional!

Also, I still have another project on the table I’m hoping to do, and I found the perfect tutorial I wanted to share with you!
Last year I found some beautiful velvet pumpkins at TJ Maxx. Unfortunately, my budget wouldn’t allow for them at the time, and when I went back to snatch them on clearance- someone beat me to them! As you know, your dream decor is usually just a Pinterest search away, and I found a DIY for these precious pumpkins so that I can have them this year!

Throw Pillow Hack
Guys, I love changing out my throw pillows on my sofas for the seasons! Even though I routinely shop discount stores and clearance, throw pillows these days are RIDICULOUSLY expensive! (Maybe not so much if you don’t have kids…)
But I found a solution to stay on budget-
I USED TO make my own pillow covers, but they never turned out as fabulous as I imagined. And, again- the fabrics I REALLY wanted were always designer, ($$$) and I found myself settling for less expensive prints that were NOT the look I wanted. Not to mention, it can take a lot of TIME to sew things. Who has extra TIME for that?! Can you relate?!
So- I turned to Amazon. Low and behold- PILLOW COVERS GALORE! For every occasion and season, and starting at $3!!!
The ones I really liked were honestly $5-$10, but that beats the pants off a $24-$40 pillow from a department store, (that only comes out once a year!)
